Mtv’s The State, Fans Can Get a Little Fix

When I was 14 or 15 years old, I was introduced to world of sketch comedy. Not SNL, not In Living Color, but a random Andy Sambergesque envelope pusher. It was called The State, with several very young actors you may know now on TV and film. David Wain directed “Wet Hot American Summer”, “The Ten” and finally his career propelling film “Role Models”. In each of these films you can see several of his old comedy troupe having cameos or starring roles. Any of the faces look familiar? You have Officer Dangle of Reno 911 along with Kerry Washington, Ben, and in the film, EVERY State actor had a cameo…Except Kevin Allison I believe. There has been talk for so many years about a DVD box set, I no longer believe it…But color me fucked when channel surfing the other night I found on Comedy Central 3 episodes in a row! And on Mtv2!

I don’t know if the DVD will ever come out, but for know the State spike is in my vein and sating my hunger for the good old days when there was no such thing as Reality Television that wasn’t WWF.
