Just when you thought the EPIC failure of Terminator Salvation would derail the proposed sequels it appears McG is moving forward. He also wants to be even more like Michael Bay. (Sigh)
Talking to IESB, the director said,
Obviously, Michael Bay had tremendous success following Transformers, in a very short window. Sometimes people like to take time off, but I’m excited about the next installation of the story, in the Terminator idea. So, for me, it’s terribly exciting to get back out there and show a different face of that idea, and perhaps get out of the apocalyptic world and into a contemporary world. I think the audience is going to be very excited about our way in.
Sounds like McG wants to take the franchise back to its roots by going back to the past or atleast thats what I assume. I think thats a bad idea, we’ve been there, done that, stay in the future. Take your apocalypitc future and the characters you have and work with it. Actually, I don’t want you to work with it. If a sequel is inevitable then I want a new director and goddam script that has a compelling yet simple story that is heavy on emotion.
