Warner Bros. wasn’t planning any Superman film anytime soon, or so they claim. After the hyped, super expensive, and super disappointing Superman Returns, the forever cursed franchise has been in the thinktank AGAIN. No Nicholas Cage this time trying to step into the Supe gear, he (Thank Jur-El) found a good role in Ghostrider, scorching up over 100mill domestically, and diverting his attention from what could have potentially been a devastating turn on our favorite superhero of all time… So what’s changed? Hollywood’s man with the Golden Touch and a God to Nerdbastards everywhere has taken interest in working on yet another reboot…Mr. JJ Abrams was quoted as saying:
It was a very passionate character for me. As a kid growing up it meant a lot to me. It would be wonderful and fun to see that brought back. I don’t know what Warners is thinking or what their plan is. It would be a blast.
So apparently WB say’s yes to JJ, hot off of..Well..Everything! Heroes, Fringe, other shows I’m not recalling but most importantly the reboot of Star Trek…
Now here’s what they call conundrum…Superman was “Rebooted” 3 years ago! While the film was dull and a tad boring, Brandon Routh was phenomenal as Superman and Clark Kent. The movie was actionless and put holes in the mythology like his half human son that he had with Lois Lane. I think they should give Routh another chance at the man of steel though, I believe that another reboot so close is kind of a stupid idea, but Abrams will give it a blast of fresh air to twist it into something new. I am still unsure of how I feel right now. Great to have him aboard, just want Brandon to get one more stab!
