A new super dynamic duo (for some reason) are about to take our Nerd Haven by storm. The mecca for us all, the Comic-Con International in San Diego will be the playground for documentary guru Morgan Spurlock and Lord of the Geeks Joss Whedon. E! Online:

Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) are teaming up to make a documentary about Comic-Con International in San Diego. It “will be centered on a still-to-be-cast group of convention-going superfans,” he says, and will follow them for a few months before the con, in addition to seeing what they’re up to in San Diego.

Like Mark Hamil’s “Comic Book The Movie” mockumentary, I believe that while the pair believe they are going to be doing a greater good, like Trekkies the movie, it will just make us gamers, action figure collectors, and movie fans look like a group of assholes. I call it as I see it. I hid my D&D playing from my closest friends for 19 years. 19!! These people have the ability unlike myself to wear their hearts on their sleeves and are “mocked” by the general public who don’t get it. I think this is cool and entertaining and I WILL watch it. But they are looking at us through the glass. And we, dressed as the Borg, Elves, and now, no fucken doubt, Na’vi, will be a fucken freak show. They’re outside looking in. They see it…But don’t…really..Know? I guess. Having Joss Whedon on board in my opinion won’t give this the street cred people are hoping for. It will be just another stab at the idea, to get people who don’t understand…To understand..And unless this is something inside them..They never will. (Via Robot 6)
