bftrolltraceartthieflus-300x138So last week, I went on a nerd rage and wrote this post and once again, I apologize for the nerd rage that was unleashed there. After days of the BLEACH/Incarnate thing being blown out on the internet and after Radical, Viz, and BLEACH manga-ka Kubo releasing a statement, Nick Simmons finally made his statement about the matter, and this time, its the REAL Nick Simmons. This is what he said:

“Like most artists I am inspired by work I admire. There are certain similarities between some of my work and the work of others. This was simply meant as an homage to artists I respect, and I definitely want to apologize to any Manga fans or fellow Manga artists who feel I went too far. My inspirations reflect the fact that certain fundamental imagery is common to all Manga. This is the nature of the medium.

I am a big fan of Bleach, as well as other Manga titles. And I am certainly sorry if anyone was offended or upset by what they perceive to be the similarity between my work and the work of artists that I admire and who inspire me.”

It is nice for him to apologize but it also sounds to me that he believes he has done nothing wrong, and who knows, that may be the case. It might be awhile till what ever is settled about this situation, but hopefully it doesn’t get too out of hand again like last week with a bunch of folks on the web raging it up. If this showed anything, its that a nerd will go all out angry in the one place they can, the Internet.
