Fox’s upcoming X-Men adventure is going at full speed as they just announced the director and release date and a little synopsis of the film. The director will be Kick-Ass’s Mathew Vaughn, who also directed Stardust and produced Snatch. X-Men: First Class will also mark the return of Bryan Singer to the film franchise. The synopsis that Fox put out was this:
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known.
I guess I was wrong when I first heard about First Class, as I thought it would be the early adventures of Cyclops and other mutants when they first enrolled into the academy. However, I do find this a bit more interesting and I’m sure this will tickle certain fans interest to watch a young Xavier and Magneto working together. The film is set to release for June 3rd, 2011, just two weeks before Green Lantern’s film release.
