What If Super Mario Bros. Was Made Today

A lot of games today has the usual tutorial levels, Facebook or Twitter connectivity (sorry to all my friends having to deal with my trophy whoring), and the good ol’ DLC that “helps” ya play the game. Ever wonder what if a game from the past actually came out today with all that annoying additions would be like? Well, Zack Hiwiller took the classic Super Mario Bros. and with 8 images, showed what he believes how the game would be like. Check out after the jump to see all 8 while I go download things from the Playstation store and have Sony tell everyone on Facebook what theme I downloaded.
Author’s Note: While this post is meant to be humorous, it isn’t meant to be humorous at the expense of my fellow designers. I know we all try to do what is best for our games and Lord knows I am just as guilty as everyone else, so don’t take offense guys! It’s just me pining for a simpler time…
If Mario was first designed in 2010, he’d probably have to adopt some of our modern trends
