This has been a day for news, and not just for E3, but for casting news and rumors for various superhero movies.
Click after the jump for the following Superhero bits: First Look at Sif in Thor, Jennifer Love Hewitt fighting for Wonder Woman, Brian Michael Bendis Turned Down Venom Spin-Off Movie and casting rumors for X-Men: First Class
The biggest news is that Jaimie Alexander, who plays Sif in Marvel’s upcoming Thor movie, has been seen and photographed. For those who don’t know, Sif is an inhabitant of Asgard, and is a skilled warrior and a potential love interest for Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth. While the picture is a bit blurry, you can definitely tell that her costume is in line with what we have already seen for Thor. And, if you look closely, on the far left side of the frame, it would appear that Thor is being held by someone clad all in black. Loki’s henchmen perhaps, or something more insidious?
Other news is that none other than Jennifer Love Hewitt is after the role of Wonder Woman in Warner Brother’s long-discussed Wonder Woman movie. Personally, I would take this with a grain of salt, as that movie has been talked about for years. But still, it could be an interesting development that this project needs to finally get off the ground.
And, in Venom news, it would appear that Brian Michael Bendis, a great writer for Marvel, was supposed to write a screenplay for a script in the Spider-man universe for Sony pictures, but he turned it down. While he does not say that it was the Venom movie outright, that is the only other movie related to Spider-man (other than the reboot) that I am aware of.
And lastly, two young actresses are reported to be in talks to be younger versions of famous X-Men characters in the upcoming movie, X-Men: First Class. The characters? The shape-changing Mystique and sexy scientist Moira McTaggert. Amber Heard is rumored to be in talks to play Mystique, while Rosamund Pike, who was rumored to be in contention to play a young Emma Frost, is supposedly in the running for McTaggert. Once again, these are only rumors, but some of them always end up being true.
