Father and Son Team Up to Build a Stargate

It’s a time-honored tradition for father and son to bond by sharing an activity, whether it’s playing catch, building a treehouse, or burying dead hookers. So as you might imagine, it warms the cockles of my cold, black heart to see a project of geekery created by a father and son.

And in this particular case, this team from Australia used good-old ingenuity to fashion a stargate from the titular sci-fi franchise. It’s made of wood, Styrofoam, wire hangers, and who knows–maybe they MacGyvered some paperclips, chewing gum wrappers and tampons in there too.

You can also check out the construction step by step here. It’s really amazing what you can do even if you don’t have a huge budget to geek out. So, good on ya, you two, and thanks for making me feel even crappier about my inability to assemble a model of the U.S.S. Enterprise.
