The Greatest Showdowns in Movies

"You're trying to kidnap what I've rightfully stolen"

According to artist Scott Campbell, the greatest showdowns in movies are best represented with some cute cartoons – but the trick is, the great showdowns that he’s chosen are not always from the climax of the movie.

The picture above is taken from the movie The Princess Bride, but it is not from the climactic final battle with the bad guy trying to steal the hero’s girlfriend. No, it is from an intellectual battle that happens much, much earlier in the movie between the princess’ kidnapper and a pirate trying to steal her away.

On his website Great Showdowns, Campbell illustrates dozens of movies with cute drawings and pairs them with a rather obscure quote from the film, which turns it into a competition seeing just how many you can name.

How many do you know from the pictures below? How about on his site?

“Listen… do you smell something”

“They only live to get radical.”

“Get busy living, or get busy dying.”

“I did not achieve this position in life by having some snot-nosed punk leave my cheese out in the wind.”

“Too close for missles, I’m switching to guns.”

“Where did you come from? I think you’re the cause of all this. I think you’re evil! EVIL!”
