So, first the President of Production Kevin Feige at Marvel Studios makes a mean spirited statement on the pressing matter of Edward Norton reprising his role of the Hulk in the upcoming ‘Avengers‘ flick. It stated that they would be replacing him with another actor. Something about how they dont feel Norton will collaborate well with the other cast (Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Chris Evans (Captain America), and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) confirmed, and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Nathan Fillion (Ant-Man), and Eva Longoria (Wasp) rumored). Then, Edward Norton’s agent Ben Swardstrom got angry and responded with his own vehement comments on the situation. Rightly so, because Marvel approached Norton to return and he was willing and excited. Out of no where, for no apparent reason, they drop him. Suffice to say the agent was pissed.
Well, what does Edward Norton himself have to say about all this? He surprisingly takes the peaceful route and responds with no accusations or ill will towards Marvel of any kind. In fact he shows them gratitued for what he has been able to do with The Hulk.
Here is the statement Norton released on his official facebook page:
While we appreciate Norton’s message of peace and gratitude it’s a bit disappointing that we didn’t get to see him ‘Hulk Out’ and tear ass with this bullshit. Regardless, Mr. Norton, we take back all the mean things we said about you being a difficult actor. You sir have taken the high road. As far as we know you have done no wrong. By all accounts you showed much love for the character and the film. It sucks balls that Marvel has pulled this crap. Un-classy bastards. Whoever, replaces you as Bruce Banner/The Hulk will think of you.
