jgl-riddler

Oh Christopher Nolan. You have proven yourself to be one of the greatest directors of our age, and I will now see any movie you direct (unless you pull a Shyamalan and start doing crap.)

As you know, I am a huge fan of the Riddler. He is my favorite Batman villain, and I’ve already covered the rumors here surrounding who will play him in Batman 3 (where he will hopefully appear as a main character).

And now, Joseph-Gordon Levitt is apparently in the running, and I could not be more thrilled. After seeing his work on Inception, as well as 500 Days of Summer, he could do some amazing things with the role.

Apparently FirstShowing obtained a casting grid for Batman 3, so the Riddler and Joseph Gordon-Levitt may be more than speculation. In short, the gird is a list of the roles in the film, possible actors, and scheduling needs. It shows talent availability and  which roles have actually been offered out. And Levitt is listed as “interested,” so this news has some legs to it.

Nothing is confirmed yet, so that is still firmly planted in the rumor category. But, how about some more grounded news about Batman 3?

According to cinematographer Wally Pfister, who shot both Batman movies and Inception, says that he could see shooting the third Batman movie entirely in IMAX.

I must say I’m a huge IMAX fan. I like IMAX more than I like 3-D…Chris’ films are so densely layered and have so much going on visually in every way that IMAX helps enhance that because of the scope and the scale of it — it becomes a much larger canvas to paint on. That’s what we found on ‘Dark Knight’…I’m not a big fan of 3-D…I liken it to my View-Master I had 40 years ago. Are you really getting more out of the story with 3-D? When you separate those different planes and you’re creating artificial depth, it looks phony to me.

I personally think that too many films are being in 3D, and it is quickly becoming a gimmick to raise more box-office. I hope they don’t shoot it in 3D.

But, even if they did, I’d still see it anyway!
