Guillermo del Toro has been in nerd news lately because of dropping out of the Lord of the Rings prequel, The Hobbit. He had stated he had other projects to work on and could not devote as much time as he should to making The Hobbit and therefore, he dropped off the movie as the director.
Really, Mr del Toro? This is why you dropped off a movie that has the potential to be so frickin’ amazing? A Disney movie based off a ride? All right, I’m not saying that Pirates of the Caribbean didn’t do well or anything, but do you really think that the Haunted Mansion movie you do is going to fare much better than the first one they did with Eddie Murphy? Ugh, all right, here are the details.
This was announced at the end of the Tron panel at Comic Con today. He said he plans to make it scary and nothing like the ridiculous movie that starred Eddie Murphy made back in 2003 with the same name. It will not be a sequel, nor will it be a remake. They are taking it to a whole different place and plan to really put the horror into it. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how this one turns out.
