Every now and then, news comes to light that just makes you smile from ear to ear. And, luckily for us, some of that just happens to be in this post.
According to ComicBookMovie.com, Marvel is planning to introduce audiences to some of the characters from their cosmic universe (aka not Earth) in The Avengers for use future movies.
According to sources, the characters being considered are:
Captain Marvel (an amalgam of Mar-Vell and Noh-Varr), Adam Worlock, Black Bolt and Nova. Several of these roles are already being written into the current film treatment, and actors are already being pursued to portray them.
Other characters that may find a way into the film(s): Drax the Destroyer, Moondragon, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Eternity.
And what about the ultimate cosmic character of The Watcher? It seems that Marvel has plans for them too.
Now, I wouldn’t be able to consider myself a Marvel fan if I hadn’t asked whether the Watcher would make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The very pleasing answer I received was, “Absolutely! These movies are going to need a narrator down the road [laughs]”
I know I have said previously that I like what Marvel is doing, but you have got to hand it to them. When they said that they are going to tie the entire universe together in the movies, they were not kidding!
I mean Black Bolt and Nova? Seriously? I would be on board for those movies right now!
The cosmic universe has so many potential movies within it, and the huge budget would allow some amazing spectacles and vistas to be shown that were only able to be seen within the pages of a comic book.
What do you think about Marvel teasing the cosmic universe characters in The Avengers, and then hopefully creating movies based upon them?
