Just in time before the re-release in theater with the 9 minutes of bonus footage, Fox being the oh so “awesome” company that they are, revealed that the Avatar special edition DVD/Blu-Ray will have 16 minutes of bonus footage. That’s right, in a couple months, people will have another reason to buy/see Avatar again. Apparently the new footage consist of scenes of the Na’vi school, something with the bioluminescence, more creatures, and an action scene. It’s said that these scenes will fit right in and will “enhance” the story.
Let’s see, the film was released in theaters in December of 2009. The DVD/Blu-Ray was released in April of 2010. We’re getting the re-release in theaters this Friday and now a new special edition DVD/Blu-Ray this November. Don’t forget, sometime next year, we will finally see the 3D Blu-Ray release of the film, which I’m sure will have even more extra footage. Yeah, this is all set to happen within a year and half of the film’s initial theatrical release. Geez, what a way to whore a franchise out with just one film.
What do you guys think? Any of you interested in watching the film again in theaters or has the news of the special edition DVD/Blu-Ray changed your mind about it? Personally, I haven’t watched Avatar yet and I probably still won’t either because I really don’t care for it. Tell us what you think by leaving a comment.
