After all these years, it seems that Microsoft still has some interest in doing a live action Halo movie, since you know, it is one of their cash cows. With Neill Blomkamp (District 9) leaving the project couple years ago and having no interest in coming back, Microsoft has put the film back in shelves. Frank O’Conner, who is Microsoft/Halo’s developmental director was interviewed by Variety and had this to say:
“We’re still interested in making an excellent ‘Halo’ movie. We’ve created an awful lot of documentation and materials to support a feature film. We have a good idea of what kind of story we want to tell, but won’t move on it until there’s a great reason to do it. We’re in no particular hurry.”
O’Conner also went on to say how the movie will have more of a standalone story rather than a story that follows the game’s narrative. With all that said, are any of y’all still hoping for a Halo movie? What do you think of a story that doesn’t necessary follow the events of game but one that would be trying to capture the interest if non-gamers? Or do you think it’s too late by now to have a film? Personally, I wouldn’t mind a collection of shorts that has the same quality as the live action commercials as I have enjoyed all of them. Then again, I’m just a Playstation fanboy so what do I know.
