G.R.O.W. For The Week of 9/21/2010

Welcome to the first ever G.R.O.W., Game Releases Of the Week. We here at NerdBastards decided to finally bring you fine bastards a game release list feature just to make your life a little easier (and to give me more work). While we’ll have a basic layout for this feature, I want you, the readers to tell me what y’all want with this feature. Do you want just the major titles listed? Do you want PSN/WiiWare/XBLA games listed? Tell us what you want by leaving a comment. Until then, click after the jump to see what is coming out and see if there is any game you want to play.

Sid Meier’s Civilization V

The Flagship Turn-Based Strategy Game Returns! Become Ruler of the World by establishing and leading a civilization from the dawn of man into the space age. Wage war, conduct diplomacy, discover new technologies, go head-to-head with some of history’s greatest leaders and build the most powerful empire the world has ever known.

The always addicting Civilization series is back with an all new game with some new changes. What changes you ask? Well, we got hexagonal tiles instead of squares and a new battle system are just few of the changes and it seems the changes are all for good. The game has been getting nothing but good reviews so if you’re a fan, get ready to enjoy and waste many hours with this new installment. The special edition includes a 2 disk soundtrack, a behind the scenes DVD, 5 figurines, and a 176 page hardcover art book.

Available: PC (Amazon), PC Special Edition (Amazon), PC (GameStop), PC Special Edition (GameStop)

Final Fantasy XIV Collector’s Edition

Final Fantasy fans know that each edition of the MMORPG from Square Enix can stand on its own with unique, engaging stories, visually stunning graphics and customizable characters. So long-time fans and newcomers can both jump right into any Final Fantasy installment. Final Fantasy XIV is no exception, and you’ll be drawn into an epic adventure with multiple paths in the realm of Eorzea. You’ll have the freedom to wander and explore the huge environment and to choose how you’ll accomplish your objectives. Maybe you’ll enlist the help of others playing from locations all over the world, or perhaps you’ll prefer to go at it alone. Whatever path you choose, it’s up to you, from your arsenal of weapons to the style of play that suits you best.

So in order to play FFXIV this week is to buy the collector’s edition since the regular edition comes out next week. While that may be one of many things SquareEnix has been doing wrong with this game, I know some FFXI players are ready to enjoy this installment of the game. The Collector’s Edition includes a behind the scenes DVD, a journal to log in your journeys and to look at concept art, security token, 30 days of free game play, and more!

Available: PC Collector’s Edition (Amazon), PC Collector’s Edition (GameStop)

War – the first Horseman of the Apocalypse – stands accused of inciting a war between Heaven and Hell. In the slaughter that ensued, the demonic forces defeated the heavenly hosts and laid claim to the Earth. Dishonored and stripped of his powers, War must return to Earth in search of vengeance and vindication.

The awesome console hit is finally available for you PC gamers as you are now able to kick some ass with War. The game has been compared to Legend of Zelda and God of War in a good way as it mixes elements from both games in this awesome action adventure game. Plus, you have Navi like character that is voiced by Mark Hamill that you can have talking almost anytime you want.

Available: PC (Amazon), PC (GameStop)

Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City

The embodiment of adventure and discovery in the purest sense, EOIII transports gamers to a sparkling oceanic paradise filled with atmospheric dungeons to chart and survey, vast watery expanses to sail across, and rumors of a sunken city to investigate. With an entirely new host of character classes to customize and train, the addition of naval travel and exploration, and the unprecedented introduction of cooperative local multiplayer content, EOIII isn’t content to simply continue the series; it seeks to redefine it.

If your looking for some good portable RPG action, then tis game is for you. It has the classic dungeon crawling game style with old school difficulty. So pick this game up if your looking for some good time wasting adventures on the go.
