Iron Man 2IM2

In Iron Man 2, the world is aware that billionaire inventor Tony Stark is the armored super hero, Iron Man. Under pressure from the government, the press and the public to share his technology with the military, Tony is unwilling to divulge the secrets behind the Iron Man armor because he fears the information will slip into the wrong hands. With Pepper Potts and James “Rhodey” Rhodes at his side, Tony forges new alliances and confronts powerful new forces.

Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Mickey Rourke, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson
Direct by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Zathura)

While the film has its haters and some that believe this didn’t live up to the first, Iron Man 2 is still a fun film to watch. The main reason as to why to own this is the HUGE list of extras you get and part of that extra is this alternative opening. You get many behind the scenes stuff, artwork to look at, deleted and extended scenes, you could spend hours with all of it which is why this is a BUY for any fan.

Get Him to the Greek

Aaron Green gets things done. The ambitious 23-year-old has exaggerated his way into a dream job just in time for a career-making assignment. His mission: Fly to London and escort a rock god to L.A.’s Greek Theatre for the first-stop on a $100-million tour. His warning: Turn your back on him at your own peril.

Starring: Jonah Hill, Russell Brand
Directed by Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall)

In this spin-off of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, we get a movie on the character Aldous Snow and it ends up being a pretty funny movie ranging from its gross humor and sex jokes. The film comes with quite the amount of extras ranging from deleted scenes to music videos to three documentary style features.  If you want some good laughs and some thing to waste time on, give this film a RENT as it will easily do that.

Available: Blu-Ray/Digital Copy, DVD

Superman/Batman: Apocalypse

When a spaceship splashes down in Gotham Harbor, Batman and Superman encounter a mysterious Kryptonian with powers as great as Superman’s. When Darkseid gets wind of this, he has the Kryptonian abducted and brought under his control on Apokolips. It’s up to Batman and Superman to retrieve the Kryptonian, forcing them to infiltrate Darkseid’s hostile world where superpowerful threats lurk around every corner. This story is based on Jeff Loeb’s popular mini-series from the Superman/Batman comic books.

Starring: Tim Daly, Kevin Conroy, Andre Braugher, Summer Glau, Susan Eisenberg
Directed by Lauren Montgomery (Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, Green Lantern: First Flight)

Why it’s another DC animated feature with the voices of characters we know and having the lovely Summer Glau providing the voice for Supergirl. While I’m not a fan of Superman, I am a fan of the Superman/Batman comics and this is based on the “Supergirl from Krypton” storyline. If you enjoyed the Public Enemies animated feature, than give this title a rent as it also has a Green Arrow short feature.

Available: Blu-Ray/Digital Copy, Blu-Ray, 2 Disk DVD Set, DVD

Usually when we get a season set, it would mean that a new season of the show should be starting soon (unless the release was for the last season). Unfortunately, the second season of Legend of the Seeker ended up being the last as the show was was not renew. Which is a shame as most fans have said that the series got better during this season. The set only has a few extras such as extended scenes and other stuff that would probably have the fans wanting the show to come back.

Family Guy: Partial Terms of Endearment

The jokes stretch from here to maternity in the hilariously offensive Family Guy episode you couldn’t see on television! Now legal to own (but just barely), Family Guy: Partial Terms of Endearment is a freakin’ poignant tale of what happens when Lois agrees to become a surrogate mother for an infertile couple against Peter’s wishes. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry… it’s your choice!

While this only has one episode, in which it has met with mixed reviews, the extras on the disk makes this purchase worth it. You get the Seth and Alex Almost Live Comedy Show that met some controversy itself. While all of this should have been in the Season/Set 8 box set, it’s being released for a cheap price and packed with extras.

Anime Pick of the Week

Devil May Cry: The Complete Series – Viridian Collection

Cursed to live as both monster and man, Dante must spend his life fighting the demonic forces of darkness. Brandishing his sword, Rebellion, and his always-loaded guns, Ebony and Ivory, Dante is more than happy to send the demons back to hell – especially when there’s money to be made. The wildly popular video game is now a series, and this time, there’s no sympathy for the devil.

So the anime added an annoying little girl but it still captures the character of Dante from DMC 1 & 3 right. With the recent announcement of the reboot, enjoy this version of Dante while you can in this cheap re-release (which is what Funimation’s Viridian Collection is about) with some strawberry parfait.

Available: 3 Disk DVD Set
