Peter Sciretta of SlashFilm had the opportunity to visit the set of the upcoming Green Lantern (June 2011) movie that has just wrapped 100 days straight of filming in Louisiana. And while not much could be revealed (damn Wanrer Bros. keeping everything under wraps). But what was said was,
Warner Bros isn’t just making a superhero movie, they are making a big space opera. The scopeis huge and very ambitious and I’m excited to see if they can pull it off, and if mainstream America are willing to accept the abundance of hard sci-fi elements.
I think this speaks volumes for what they are trying to accomplish with this film. As Sciretta alludes to in his video post this is a film that will be less grounded than Spider-Man or Batman. I think that there will definitely be some issues bringing in a mainstream audience in; However, if anyone is capable of this task it’s Ryan Reynolds alongside director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale). What do you guys think about all of this? Is Warner Bros. biting off more than it can chew with this project or do you think they’ll accomplish there task of drawing us into this world?? Also, check out some concept art for the film, Reynolds in costume as well as Sciretta’s video blog after the jump.
