It seems that now all the major parts of the upcoming Spider-Man reboot have been filled – Spider-Man/Peter Parker is Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone is playing Gwen Stacey and Rhys Ifans will be playing the villain known as The Lizard (aka Dr. Curt Conners) – the rumor mills have begun to spin on who will play secondary characters.
And who is the most well-known secondary character (aside from villains)? That is good ol’ flat-top, Mr. J. Jonah Jameson, the Daily Bugle’s Editor-in-Chief who hates Spider-Man with a passion.
In the previous Spider-Man movies, he was played amazingly by the talented J. K. Simmons, but it looks like the directors/studio’s/producers wanted a complete re-boot and are thinking of hiring someone else.
According to What’sPlaying, the top contenders for the role are John Slattery (Roger on AMC’s Mad Men) and Sam Elliot (The Stranger in The Big Lebowski). I think Slattery would be the best fit, but he won’t be as good as Simmons, though.
Just for pure laughs, below is a video showcasing some of J.J’s best moments from the previous three Spider-Man movies.
