Got Ya! No Hugh Jackman in X-Men: First Class

hugh-jackman-wolverine-full-fury

Damn you Mark Zuckerberg and your wonderfully designed social networking site!  Because of Facebook many have been duped into thinking that Hugh jackman would be appearing in the upcoming X-Men: First Class.   Just yesterday a facebook status posted said,

“I drove Hugh Jackman from X-Men To the Airport this morning. They are filming on Jekyll…Cool guy!”

Well, because someone was trying to sound cool and get laid by bragging about this, recently Bryan Singer and the one of the producer’s have had to come making comments to clear up this mess.   Although it doesn’t make much sense chronologally for Wolverine to appear in this gilm the X-men stroyline is pretty convoluted which could mean that this rumor is actually believable.

As far as Jackman being in X-Men Singer commented,

“He’s not in the movie, he’s in the Wolverine movies.” A Fox spokesman also told the paper, “X-Men hasn’t started shooting in Georgia yet and if Hugh was in Georgia, it wasn’t for this movie.”

In addition a producer on the film addded their two cents to aid in the cleaning up of this rumor by saying,

It takes place in the early 60s and it incorporates some characters I was able to bring back in time that are familiar, as well as some new characters, new mutants… Also, there’s a new villain component, a really cool villain and villain group… It’s a really cool and fun story. It will be the first Silver Age Marvel movie.

We’ve set First Class in a time when the X-Men were conceived in the early 60s, up against political events that were happening – the early civil rights movement – and we have these kinds of events at a time when the world didn’t know mutants existed.

Now while it doesn’t seem to fit that Wolverine would be in this movie it would be pretty sweet!  And with SInger and a producer being so quick to shut down the rumor, maybe they are keeping this surprise under wraps.  I guess we’ll just have to find out when X-Men:First Class comes out in June 2011.  What do you guys think??
