Have you all been excited for all those future issues of Marvel comics being sold at a $2.99 price? Well, that lower price promise was misconstrued, by fellow blogging sites and Marvel itself. It seems that the announcement was for a new line of Marvel, their ‘.1 ‘ line at $2.99 a pop.
Now, just what in the hell is the .1 line? Marvel’s .1 issues are going to be like those “previously on” parts at the beginning of television shows. A $3 issue, released during story arcs and events, designed to catch up the new readers on whats going on up to that upcoming issue. Sure it looks like a great idea, missing a few issues only to buy one and be caught up on 3 months worth of issues, but why bother paying the 3 bones for a .1 and still paying $4 for the next issue?
Well, apparently if you want see some special goodies, as in the introduction of an all-new Venom (Spider-man #654.1), you have to buy those branded “Marvel point 1” issues. What’s another $3 between friends eh? You can buy them or not, either way Marvel is still going to be making money.
