Need something to do before those midnight screenings of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, since you JUST CAN’T TAKE WAITING ANYMORE?!?!?!#&@*@)!*!@*&($@#(&. Jeez, calm the hell down and check out this YouTube game worthy of a true Gryffindor.
In Harry Potter and the Summer School Spectre, your job is to move Harry and our other favorite characters through a “Choose Your Own Adventure” series of screens and videos. You’ll have the option to answer questions or perform tasks in certain ways, which then will lead to different outcomes. Replay the game with a path previously unchosen, and you’ll get something different each time.
You’ll see that this is an 8-bit game of goodness, much like the old Final Fantasy games or even Bill & Ted’s Excellent Video Game Adventure.
It should be noted that this game isn’t officially authorized by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling or studio Warner Brothers. That doesn’t take away from the awesomeness that the good folks at TheStation have created, though. Start with the game’s first chapter below and see for yourself.
