After word hit that Darren Aronofsky would be at the reigns of ‘The Wolverine’ it’s been in the air as to what setting this film will be in. We now know it’s going to be based on the Frank Miller Wolverine mini-series, set in beautiful Japan. After dealing with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a bigger piece of crap then the Fantasic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer, this could be the proper Wolverine film. With a setting based on nobility and honor and a story from Miller it looks like Aronofsky going to be a kid in a candy store.

“Chris McQuarrie wrote a great screenplay. We’re trying to get it into a slightly better place but he’s working on it, and I think it’ll be easy to fix. Chris is an amazing writer and I’m very lucky to have him as a collaborator.”

It wouldn’t feel right to film in Japan and not use the Japanese language for the film. That be like hiring someone to fake a Cajun accent, oops!, to late. Anyway, it just wouldn’t feel right. Not to mention seeing Hugh Jackman speak Japanese with a cigar in his mouth would be downright awesome. As for the current condition of the script,

“Chris McQuarrie wrote a great screenplay. We’re trying to get it into a slightly better place but he’s working on it, and I think it’ll be easy to fix. Chris is an amazing writer and I’m very lucky to have him as a collaborator.”

The Wolverine is still in the early stages of development so far, with Darren saying they haven’t begun to “gear up” yet. As for right now he’s still focused on promoting his new film BlackSwan Natalie Portman & Mila Kunis. Once Black Swan is out of the way it’s all Logan, all Japan. Now let’s hear about some Silver Samurai soon, eh gentlemen?
