It’s finally here, the moment we all haven’t been waiting for. The Transformers: Dark of the Moon trailer has debuted and I gotta say, it looks much better than I thought. Hopefully when more details and a longer trailer are revealed it will still look this cool.
Michael Bay’s latest edition the Transformers’ franchise is due out July 1st and is hopefully leaps and bounds better than the second one, Revenge of the Fallen (but honestly, without Megan Fox returning I don’t how it can be). Even though Fox has been replaced with Rosie Huntington (who will be playing an assistant at the english embassy and Shia’s love interest) there will definitely be some familiar faces like Josh Duhamel and Tyrese Gibson. And of course Shia will be back as the super nerdy, but none the less ballsy, Sam Witwicky.
As far as a lot of the problems that plagued the second Transformers’ flick, Bay had this to say,
“On the second movie we got burned. We had a writers strike, we had to agree on a story in three weeks, and then we knew they were going on strike. It was a [frick]ed scenario all the way around, it wasn’t fair to the writer, it wasn’t fair to me, it wasn’t fair to anybody. It was still an entertaining movie, but I think we failed on certain aspects. What we did with this movie is I think we have a much better script, and we got back to basics. I think there’s some really cool action on this movie, there’s some very cool conspiracy, there’s great robot stuff in this that people were missing in the second one, you’ve got great robot conflict. So I’m excited about this movie.”
Bay also commented on improvements made to the latest installment of the Tranformes’ franchise,
“It’s more serious. I got rid of the dorky comedy, I mean we’ve got two little characters, that’s it, but the dorkiness is not there. Dork-free Transformers. It’s much more serious. It’s still entertaining, it’s big looking. I think it’s much more compelling, what we did, how we funneled our action, what we’ve got our characters doing, they’ve got a lot more to do. My take on this movie was that I wanted to make the fighting a lot more personal. In the past two movies the cavalry has always came in, this time the cavalry isn’t coming. It’s black hawk down, a small group; they’re [frick]ed. It makes it more intimate.”
Lastly, what’s been pointed out about the Dark of the Moon teaser trailer that I found interesting is that is seems to a throwback to the the teaser trailer for the first Transformers movie. Both trailers are extremely vague and take place in space. Where as the second teaser trailer for the franchise’s Revenge of the Fallen plays off its stars showing footage of both LeBeouf and Fox. So what do you guys think of the new teaser trailer? Will there be more to look forward to than just Michael Bay blowing stuff up?? Also, since you probably haven’t watched them since I included the teaser trailers from the rest of Trasnformers’ franchise after the jump!
