[Editors Note: This post is a bit ranty. Hope that’s cool.]
Ya know why we have movies like the Batman Begins and The Dark Knight? No. Despite popular belief, it was not the success of ‘Spider-man’ that started this whole “super hero” movie trend. NO! It wasn’t! It all started with ‘Blade’ and his butt-kicking black ass! Like with anything new, dangerous and uncharted territory what does “the man” do? They send the black man in first! He comes back alive, then it’s safe for everyone else to play. ‘Blade’ was the superhero movie equivalent of sending the black guy in. And, boy did it kick ass and take names (let’s just continue to pretend Trinity never happened, okay?). If anyone gets laid tonight it’s because of Wesley Snipes in Blade.
What does this all have to do with actor Stephen Dorff wanting to make a Blade prequel/ spin-off? Absolutely nothing. Just teaching you peeps about history and respect. That, and I really don’t care about Stephen Dorff.
For those that do care, Mr. Dorff loved his character Deacon Frost from the original Blade so much so that he’s got the urge to go back for some more. Here’s what he told Dark Lord Bunnykin’s blog:
“Me and Steve Norrington [director of the original Blade] had a cool treatment for that, and when vampires got all this trending again, we thought we should do the adult version, more of like a Scarface Deacon Frost movie, And it sounded cool, this treatment, but then there was so many legal things. Like New Line owned Blade and Marvel’s got…all this hype into ‘The Avengers’ and this group movie which sounds like such a mistake.”
“Blade was such a ’90s thing,” Dorff continues. “I didn’t want to do a Blade movie, I just really wanted to take Deacon and then do a whole other thing which was much more today. So the idea me and Steve had, we might just end up fictionalizing it and just making a new character which might even be better for us. And he’s someone I really like and would love to work with again. So hopefully whenever we get a chance we’ll get into that.”
Whoa. Wait a minute. “Marvel’s got…all this hype into ‘The Avengers’ and this group movie which sounds like such a mistake.”. Well who the fuck asked you? Sit on your hands, stare at the sky and shut the fuck up.. you fucking clown shoes. Regardless of how much of a fan favorite your character is from Blade you need to get over yourself. Blade was a great movie, but no one wants to see a Deacon Frost movie. Especially in lieu of ‘The Avengers’. Sadly, with Hollywood enjoying prequels you’re probably gonna get to play in the superhero playground again. So maybe I’m the “fucking clown shoes”.
Well, y’all know how I feel. Would any of you like to see a Blade prequel or even a Deacon Frost movie?
