Yesterday was the birthday for the Godfather of comic books, a man who introduced the world to characters we still read about to this very day. Stan Lee is officially 88 years old and the man is still kicking around on God’s green earth, not many people can say they’ve made it that far and still be a regular part of pop-culture. The man who not only challenged the comic industry’s censorship organization, the Comics Code Authority, he helped force it to reform its policies. Without his involvement Heroines like Black Widow and Sue Strom would be the members of their teams that stayed behind and did super dishes.
This is an individual that helped make Marvel what it is today, an empire. Spider-man, Hulk, Thor, Captain America, even the Fantastic Four, these are names we would have never heard of if he didn’t collaborate with Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. A comic book writer, editor, actor, producer, publisher, television personality, and former president and chairman of Marvel Comics the man has done it all. Thank you sir for giving us the great ones, the legend of his own time and ours. Happy birthday you crazy genius, may you continue to keep on doing what you do. EXCELSIOR!!!
