Welcome bastards to another installment (and new year) of NerdBastards’ weekly DVD Tuesday feature. We list what came out today and recommend if it’s either a BUY, RENT, or PASS. This week we got 4 releases that may be of interest of you.

After that, we got a Blu-Ray 3D release of a certain title that people liked and as always, the TV Show DVD section is filled with all sorts of goodies. So what are you waiting for? Check what came out after the jump and see if there is something you want!

From director Robert Rodriguez (Grindhouse, Sin City) comes an action-packed, cutting-edge serving of carnage asada…with killer deleted scenes that deliver more guns, more girls and more Machete action! Set up, double-crossed and left for dead, Machete (Danny Trejo) is an ass-kicking ex-Federale who lays waste to anything that gets in his path. As he takes on hitmen, vigilantes and a ruthless drug cartel, bullets fly, blades clash and the body count rises. Any way you slice it, vengeance has a new name–Machete.

Starring: Danny Trejo, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Seagal, and more!
Directed by Robert Rodriguez (Predators, Planet Terror)

What was once a fake trailer for the Grindhouse film, Rodrigrez brought the awesome Machete to life as we get a fun and awesome movie for our brains to enjoy. The film is just pure fun to watch as it does tribute to past B movies and not to mention, Danny Mother F’N Trejo does justice portraying Machete. The film comes with deleted scenes and a track that includes audience’s reaction to probably make it more of a campy/fun experience.

Dinner for Schmucks

Tim (Rudd) is a rising executive who “succeeds” in finding the perfect guest, IRS employee Barry (Carell), for his boss’ monthly event, a so-called “dinner for idiots,” which offers certain advantages to the exec who shows up with the biggest buffoon.

Starring: Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Zach Galifianakis, Stephanie Szostak, and Bruce Greenwood.
Directed by Jay Roach (Meet the Parents/Fockers, Austin Powers trilogy)

While the film doesn’t do justice from what it’s based from (the French film, Le Dîner de cons/The Dinner Game), it does do enough to make some folks laugh. With that said, we do get to see Rudd and Carell team up once again since The 40 Year Old Virgin. If you got the time and want some few laughs, then check the flick out. While the DVD release only includes the deleted scenes and one behind the scene extra, the Blu-Ray has that plus more, ranging from interviews and essentially, more behind the scene stuff.

The Last Exorcisim

When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine “exorcism” on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy. Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers from their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a confessionary documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon his arrival at the already blood-drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus” own beliefs are shaken to the core as he and his crew must find a way to save Nell – and themselves – before it is too late.

Starring: Patrick Fabian, Ashley Bell, and Louis Herthum.
Directed by Daniel Stamm (A Necessary Death)

Sure it may be another exorcism movie but at least it’s trying by making it a documentary-esque film. While critics seemed to like the film, the general audience seemed to have more of the meh feeling towards it. That’s why this get’s the RENT title as it could be something that may be worth checking out if your looking for something to help kill 90 minutes. It may be worth the buy as it comes packing with extras ranging from multiple commentary tracks, audition footage, behind the scene stuff and more.

Case 39

Academy Award® winner Renee Zellweger stars in this terrifying, supernatural thriller about a social worker who has been assigned the unusual and disturbing case of Lillith Sullivan, a girl with a strange and mysterious past. When Emily (Renee Zellweger) opens her home in an attempt to help Lillith, it turns into a deadly nightmare she may not survive. Co-starring Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), Case 39 is a heart-stopping chiller with startling surprises that lead to a shocking and sinister ending.

Starring: Renée Zellweger, Jodelle Ferland, Ian McShane, and Bradley Cooper.
Directed by Christian Alvart (Pandorum)

So, this film was suppose to come out in 2008. It had 3 different release dates for that year until it was pushed 3 more times to it’s Oct. 1, 2010 date. Maybe there was a good reason for it as the film is unoriginal and doesn’t do anything to make it worth the watch, which makes this title easily a PASS. The film comes with the usual extras.

Blu-Ray 3D

A young girl walks through a secret door in her new home and discovers an alternate version of her life. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life – only much better. But when this wondrously off-kilter, fantastical adventure turns dangerous, and her counterfeit parents (including Other Mother) try to keep her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination, and bravery to get back home – and save her family.

Sure you may have already seen the film in 3D and also in HD, but now is your chance to watch it in high-def 3D. The film was loved by many so if you haven’t bought the Blu-Ray version yet, this package may be worth the upgrade.

The Ricky Gervais Show: Complete First Season

From the creators of the smash-hit series The Office and Extras and based on the original record-breaking podcasts, comes the new animated comedy series, “The Ricky Gervais Show.” The series is an animated version of the original podcasts that earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most downloads. It is voiced by Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, and colleague and friend Karl Pilkington whose offbeat musings inspire many of the storylines which include the merits of 20th century inventions; Karl’s suggestion for population control; how philosophy has evolved through the ages and not forgetting Karl’s perfectly round head.

Basically, they took Ricky Gervais’ funny ass podcast and added  animation to go along with the auido to made it even more funny. The show is a hit on HBO and this is your chance to get all of season 1 in a nice set.
