Ridley Scott Attempts to Take His Big Screen Talent to the Small Screen…. Sounds Like a Recipe for Disaster
Ridley Scott is quite the busy guy right now, not only is he is the process of working on a BBC show, a project based on the work of Philip K. Dick’s The Man In The High Castlbut is also bringing us a show called Prophets of Science Fiction that will be airing on the Science Channel in the second part half of 2011. So what exactly is this thing all about,
[An] eight-episode series that will profile great minds of science fiction who later inspired “science fact.”explores legendary figures; including Isaac Asimov, Gene Roddenberry and George Lucas, and examines how their work often inspired future discoveries decades before they took place… The series, which will premiere in the second half of 2011, will engage audiences in a dynamic, hyper-stylized way that has never been seen before on television.
Oh wow, I almost fell asleep just reading that paragraph. The show will focus on the likes of Isaac Asimov, Gene Roddenberry and George Lucas and examine how their work often inspired future discoveries decades before they took place.
Who knows, it may turn out to be like one of those boring History Channel specials that ends up being really fucking good. I mean, how bad can it be? After all this is the guy who brought us films like Alien, Blade Runner and Gladiator! Oh wait, he also gave us Robin Hood…. guess that blows that theory right out of the water.
Ridley Scott has also commented on the subject saying,
I am thrilled to be partnering with Science Channel on this exciting new series. I hope that the audience will find the subjects as interesting and inspiring as I do.
Do you guys potentially find this show interesting??
