When the first image of Andrew Garfield (who totally reminds me of Hayden Christensen. Same goddamn voice.) in mask-less Spider-Man costume hit the interwebs/world a handful of of nerds with good eyes noticed what appeared to be web shooters attached to Garfield’s gloves.
As most of you may recall, in Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man movies he choose to have Spider-Man’s web shooting to be organic (from his body) and not the result of a wrist contraption. Many wanted to punch Raimi in the nuts for those “organic” web shooters. The deal with web-shooters is that it gives you more story possibilities – Pete can run out, can have them damaged, can whip up new formula for specific bad guys, etc. It makes him into more of a science geek hero, which is what he’s supposed to be. On the other hand, if Parker is going to have all the abilities of a Spider then whey the hell can’t he ejaculate some webbing?
Anyway, it looks like we are officially back to the tried-and-true web shooters. Fan speculation was right.
In an interview with MTV Emma Stone (who is playing Gwen Stacy) elsuivly confirmed the presence of the web shooters.
Cool, I guess? It remains to be seen whether this is a change to differentiate from Raimi’s movies or if to be “more authentic” to the source material.
Web shooters, yes. Now what about web arm-pits? That needs to happen!
