Just who in the world is Ben Walker and how will he fit as the Civil war’s greatest hero ? Ben has been the favorite to become the beard wearing hero of the Tim Burton directed Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. After screen testing along side fellow actors Benjamin Walker, James D’Arcy, Adrien Brody, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Josh Lucas to decide who would fit the role of the president. It can now be confirmed that Walker will take on the lead as Abraham, kicking ass by day and staking Vampires by night.
Freer of slaves, manliest of men, Vampire hunter?
Benjamin could have been in the upcoming X-Men: First Class as Hank McCoy, but dropped out to play Andrew Jackson in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson. Most people would have called him nuts for it, going from being part of a multi-million dollar film only to drop out and go work on the stage. It ended up paying off for Ben in the long run, as his acclaimed role in the Broadway production may have guaranteed his role as the 16th president of the United States. The man goes from Broadway actor to 3D film star, that’s gonna give him way more tang then he would have gotten on a stage, how badass is that.
The Grahame-Smith novel re-imagines Lincoln as an axe-throwing, skilled killer with an obsession for vampire destruction. After the death of his mother at the hands of vampires Lincoln dedicates his life long wrath to the end vampires race and the slave-owners that protect them. Who knew history could be this fun, taking what we all know and throwing blood and wooden stakes all over it.
Here’s what we could be seeing:
Yeah we know, that’s the book trailer. Just think of seeing all that but with better effects and Ben with the signature beard. It’s gonna be awesome.
Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter is set for a June 22, 2012 release. In a regular and 3D version everywhere.
