Every year people gather at the prestigious New York Toy Fair (they take toy presentation serious), a cornucopia of plastic and the latest tech, for the upcoming figures and collectibles of the year. With things like ‘Twilight’ storming shelves last year its a miracle that kids aren’t asking for a Cullen for Christmas. Thankfully it’s a new year, a new year means new favorites and this year it’s flesh eating undead Zombies. First; they were in the comics, then they shuffled into the brains of television viewers and with a second season in the works it means… a toy line.

A Zombie in every household, a brain out of every child

At this years ‘Toy Fair 2011’ it was announced that a series of action figures based on the AMC hit series ‘The Walking Dead’ from superstar toy company McFarlane Toys will be rolling out. The figures will be split into a two series deal split between a September and November release of this year. Figures will be based on both the comic by Robert Kirkman and the AMC series of the same name.

See what’s in “store’ after the jump

Series 1 in September will contain 4 characters from the Image series including:
Officer Rick Grimes
Michonne
Zombie Lurker
Zombie Roamer

Series 2 in November will also contain 4 characters but will deal with the AMC series:
Deputy Rick Grimes
Daryl Dixon
Zombie Walker
Zombie Biter

There will be differences not only between the series but also between the living and the dead. The survivors will have interchangeable parts and customization properties while the undead will feature things like gore (naturally) as well as certain ones having “exploding” body parts. We’ve come a long way from toys like Stretch Armstrong, now you need removable limbs and interchanging weapons. Priced at $14.95 nationwide, this is gonna be the best holiday season yet.

Here’s a preview of what to look forward to at Toy Fair 2011, in New York city next week.
