Dark Shadows Gets Less Strange and More Sexy: Michelle Pheifer and Helena Bonham-Carter in Talks to Join Cast!
Wow, casting news for the new Tim Burton/ Johnny Depp movie adaptation of the TV show Dark Shadows is really heating up! Two new female lead roles have just been mentioned (one more surprising than the other) for the upcoming flick about vampire Barnabus Collins (Depp).
It was announced that Helena Bonham Carter will be added to the cast as Hoffman; a specialist in rare blood disorders. Later, she aligns herself with Depp’s characters in an attempt to cure him of his thirst for blood (mmm…sounds sexy).
Also, mentioned to be joining the cast is someone whose work dates back a while with Burton (an oldie but a goodie). We’re talking Michelle Pheifer from what many refer to as epic, Batman Returns. Pheifer’s role as Catwoman mesmerized many… (or maybe just Michelle Pheifer in a tight suit mesmerized many). Either way, hopefully she can bring that magic back to the big screen again as Elizabeth Collins Stoddard who is the owner of the Collins Mansion where all the supernatural shizzle goes down!
In the past few weeks a slew of names have been released that are joining this endearingly creepy/quirky Burton film. According to Deadline,
“Eva Green is set to play the witch Angelique, Jackie Earle Haley is playing the conman Willie Loomis, while Bella Heathcoate will play Victoria Winters, the young governess of the Collins estate.”
Finally, for those of you expecting Johnny Dep to dig deep in order to find new ways to be strange you may be disappointed this time around. Depp commented,
“There’s something about the idea of this vampire coming back after 200 years into this modern world. With a touch of the poetic, with the tendency to wax a little poetic now and again. I have a good feeling about it. But Jonathan Frid’s Barnabas was so special.”
So how are you guys feeling about Dark Shadows now that the majority of the cast has been released??
