After that, we got three releases for you to check out for the TV Show DVD that features a certain doctor during a certain holiday, a classic sci-fi show making it presence known in the world of Blu-Ray, and a certain character that has the power. Also included is the Hidden Gem (or Crap) of the Week, which is just another way for me to highlight a certain straight to DVD release.
So what are you waiting for? Check what came out after the jump and see if there is something you want!
An unmanned runaway train is carrying a cargo of toxic chemicals. An engineer and his conductor find themselves in a race against time.
Starring: Chris Pine, Denzel Washington, Rosario Dawson
Directed by Tony Scott (The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, Déjà Vu)
Oh no, a train is on the loose and it’s unstoppable. Yeah I know, I’m a lame bastard but I couldn’t help myself and if you can’t happen to help yourself to a decent action flick that’ll help kill the time, then Unstoppable will do it for you. The film comes with the standard stuff of extra features thus why it makes this an easy RENT.
From the visionary directory of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2007 Japanese Academy Award winner, Best Animated Feature) comes the story of an ordinary family going to extraordinary lengths to avert the impending cyber apocalypse!
Kenji is your typical teenage misfit. He s good at math, bad with girls, and spends most of his time hanging out in the all-powerful, online community known as OZ. His second life is the only life he has until the girl of his dreams, Natsuki, hijacks him for a starring role as a fake fiancé at her family reunion. Things only get stranger from there. A late-night email containing a cryptic mathematic riddle leads to the unleashing of a rogue AI intent on using the virtual word of OZ to destroy the real world, literarily. As Armageddon looms on the horizon, Kenji and his new family set aside their differences and band together to save the worlds they inhabit in this near-perfect blend of social satire and science fiction.
Starring: Michael Sinternicklaas, Pam Doughtery, Brina Palencia, Todd Haberkorn, J. Michael Tatum
Directed by Mamoru Hosoda (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, One Piece, Digimon)
While it may not be a Miyazaki film this is still one anime film worth checking out as this sci-fi/romance film about the prevention of the real world colliding with the virtual world have been getting rave reviews. With a decent running time and extras just filled with interviews, it easily makes this title a RENT.
