Much like that scene from the first Alien movie where the alien sprouts out of that guys chest and comes at us, news of Prometheus, an Alien related film came flying at us today.  Lucky for us, this is a better situation than in the movie!

First off, it is reported that Rafe Spell from hilarious films like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz has been cast in the film.  And it is rumored to “be a large part” which leads people to deduce that he will be a crew member on the ship.

Also, today Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragan Tattoo) talked about her upcoming role as Elizabeth Shaw in the upcoming Prometheus.  She chatted about the role from the set of Sherlock Holmes 2.  Check out the video here!

For anyone who couldn’t get the video to work here are some of Noomi’s quotes from the interview with MTV which mainly concern her conversations Ridley Scott and how she will approach the role.

On meeting Ridley Scott….

It’s a great honor and I’m really excited. I’ve met [Scott] maybe seven or eight times and he’s so passionate. He really loves movies. He watches movies every night. He’s seen everything. We had a long chat on the phone — he’s in LA now — about my character. I have many ideas and he has many ideas, and now we’re starting to search and try to find her.

How soon she’ll be approaching the role…

My character’s name is Elizabeth Shaw, and I’ll step into her shoes in March and be her for six months or something. It’s quite a long shoot. It’s unbelievable.

Being compared to Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley

She’s definitely her own [character]. She’s a scientist and is very bright. She’s a believer. I think there are some similarities, but she’s very much her own. I don’t think people will compare her so much to Ripley once they see the movie.

Prometheus, being brought to us by original Alien creator Ridley Scott is set to hit theaters June 8, 2012.  Are you guys pumped??
