I find it odd that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has not only has emerged as a great actor, but with each passing day he’s looking more and more like the late Heath Ledger (check out comparison photo below). Coincidence? Perhaps, but my wacko conspiracy theory mind thinks the spirit of Heath Ledger has symbiotically locked itself onto Levitt. As if his spirit hasn’t crossed over yet and is using Levitt to resolve unfinished business . Think about it.

Anyway, recent unofficial Hollywood talk was putting  Ledger Levitt in a undisclosed role for Christopher Nolan‘s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. We heard everything from The Riddler, to Robin, to Deadshot, and even The Joker. The latter proving I’m not the only one who sees the Ledger/Levitt comparisons. Of course, these were all nothing but ridiculous fan speculations. Later, we got word (it was like this week, but we didn’t mention it) that Gordon-Levitt had indeed signed a Bat contract with Warner Bros. However, the mystery of what character he’d play remained.

That all changed today when it was revealed that he would be taking on the role of Alberto Falcone– a logical character Gordon-Levitt was also rumored for. If you don’t who this is, he is the son of Mafia head Carmine Falcone played by Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins.

According to Showbiz, “The younger Falcone would bring Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” trilogy full-circle, and fits with the director’s stated intentions for continuity and “realistic” villains.”

This information has not yet been officially confirmed but it makes a lot of sense. To what degree Falcone will have on the TDKR narrative is up in the air, but I assume Gordon-Levitt will probably have the same screen time as Eric Roberts did in ‘The Dark Knight’. My nerd speculation? Falcone wants to kick-start the mob, but has to remove the Bat from the equation. He knows of this maniac in prison called Bane (Tom Hardy) that can do the job. He breaks Bane out of prison, but what Falcone doesn’t know is that Bane has his own agenda for Gotham and Bats. Bane terrorizes Gotham and challenges Batman to a tough man contest. Bane wins and later has sex with your mom.

Meanwhile, Juno Temple (Atonement) is being eyed for ” a supporting role as a street-smart Gotham girl.” Oh great, more fan speculation here we come.

Don’t even try to tell me you don’t see a fucking resemblance?
