Starting with a completely unrelated note. I have the theme song from the Super Mario. Super Show stuck in my head. Some fan mentioned it on our facebook bastard poll of “The cartoon theme song that gets stuck in your head for the rest of the day after you hear it is..”. Thanks Nicholas Binney, you’ve ruined my night. 😛

Anyway, just the other day Variety reported that Heath Ledger doppleganger Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be playing Alberto Falcone Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises -confirmation on a long standing rumor. Falcone being the son of Mafia head Carmine Falcone played by Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins.

Well, it appears Variety may have been snortin’ too much cocaine off a Hollywood hookers tits, because word has it they are WRONG *dun dun dun*.  Entertainment Weekly has cited “a source close to the situation” saying Gordon-Levitt won’t be playing Alberto Falcone.

Entertinament Weekly wrote this on Monday:

A source close to the situation says that recent reports that Gordon-Levitt will play Alberto Falcone (a.k.a. the Holiday Killer) — the son of former mob kingpin, Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson) — are incorrect. So, Batman fans: Begin the re-speculation now!

I can’t falcone believe it! These are two well-respected publications. Just who the hell is right? Also, why the deuce is “The Situation” hangin’ around the Dark Knight Rises camp and why the hell would EW listen to his Guido, herpes ridden mouth? EW should know enough to hit any member of the Jersey Shore in the head with a shovel when in close proximity.

I’ll tell ya, someones gonna have to gargle a cup of horse sperm as penalty for re-opening the wave of nerd speculation. I just can’t take these Robin, Riddler, Dead Shot rumors any more! The latest now, is talk of Black Mask -underworld cult leader/ crime boss who wears an ebony skull mask.

Batman On Film posted :

I had heard JGL was definitely playing ONE of the following characters: Black Mask or Alberto Falcone. Honestly, I REALLY thought he was going to be Black Mask and I wasn’t too thrilled about it. I did figure one of these was a red herring and I’m glad the decoy was Roman Sionis and not Alberto.

Batman-News followed BOF post saying that:

Now this is where things get even crazier. Earlier today after Entertainment Weekly published their article, BOF edited their original post  — replacing all references of Black Mask with “Xxxxx Xxxx”. Did BOF make the change to protect their relationship with Warner Bros. in an attempt to not give away Gordon-Levitt’s character? Perhaps.

Black Mask? Pfft. He’s always been pretty much my least favorite Batman villain. I mean, what is he? He’s just a mob boss like any other… but with a black mask on. Oooooooh! That’s interesting. At least with Alberto, there’s some engaging character work that can be done. Regardless, I can’t wait until these stupid speculations stop and Nolan comes out with the real news
