With Smallville‘s final season quickly coming to a close, it is no surprise that the producers are trying to lure viewers with as many DC comics character cameo’s as they can possibly fit in.
So far in the series, we have had Doomsday, Jimmy Olson, Black Canary, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, The Flash, and many, many more.
The latest to be introduced? The charismatic duo of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle.
For non-DC fans, Booster Gold (played by Eric Martsolf in the series) is a overly self-confident superhero from the future who always shows up in the nick of time when a disaster happens, and always stays after for a photo-op. Obviously, this pisses Clark Kent off something fierce, but does teach Clark a few things about marketability and inspiration.
According to an article in TVGuide.com, Martsolf says that he will not be playing the Booster Gold everyone knows at the current stage of DC comic continuity.
The episode takes place in Booster’s very early stages where he’s at his conceited best, where he believes he can do whatever he wants. He’s gonna stay for the photo op and bask in the glory of his heroic efforts
Meanwhile, the Blue Beetle (played by Jaren Brandt Bartlett) will get his origin told on the show, when a mystical blue scarab attaches to him and transforms him into a sort of walking arsenal.
