One man has a tough grasp of the English language, the other makes up his own words that get added to the English Language, and together they’re gonna make it big. Both of these men have made huge strides in their respected businesses and both are cult superstars. Now it looks like they’ll be partners. Yeah, it sounds like a messed up ABC comedy, but this is an actual project between former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and comic book hero Stan Lee. In the rumor mill for the last month, this project is finally coming out to see the sunshine in the form of an animated TV show and comic books.
He said he’d be back…
In a cover story exclusive this week, Entertainment Weekly covered the new property called The Governator, which is being co-developed by comic book legend Stan Lee. Stan hasn’t really pulled out anything fantastic in the last few years other then a few cameos on TV and in Marvel’s live action films. So, what makes this new project so special to begin with?
The animated TV show and comic book, being co-developed by no less a superhero authority than Spider-Manco-creator Stan Lee, won’t be out until next year, but this week EW offers an exclusive early look at Arnold’s cartoon alter-ego. “The Governator is going to be a great superhero, but he’ll also be Arnold Schwarzenegger,” Lee says of the semi-fictional character. “We’re using all the personal elements of Arnold’s life. We’re using his wife [Maria Shriver]. We’re using his kids. We’re using the fact that he used to be governor. Only after he leaves the governor’s office, Arnold decides to become a crime fighter and builds a secret high-tech crime-fighting center under his house in Brentwood.”
Along with the Arnold Cave, the Governator will have a fleet of super vehicles at his disposal, a closet full of “Super Suits” that allow him to fly and perform other super stunts, and a team of colorful sidekicks, such as Zeke Muckerberg, yoga burn reviews the precocious 13-year-old computer whiz who acts as the Governator’s cyber security expert.
This feels like some special April Fool’s Day joke seeing that April 1st is only 24 hours away, but this is very real. If they’re going to be taking liberties with Arnold’s life, they need to throw in the robotic arm from The Terminator. That would be sweet. Also, seeing how this is also a Stan Lee project, you just know he’s going to be popping up from time to time in this farce of a series. These two were heroes in their own time, but this may be just grasping at straws now. They should be sitting in the sun drinking beer and hitting on the ladies in the shade. However, this could be just what they need to bring back readers to comic books. Screw the Spider-man reboot; let’s see a Governator movie.
