It was really only a matter of time before we started hearing more news about Iron Man 3.
The first Iron Man film was great, the second was over-burdened and rushed into production, but still managed to hit a few high points. Here’s hoping they get it right this time.
According to Deadline, writer Drew Pearce has been chosen by Marvel Studios to write the movie to be directed by Shane Black, and starring Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man.
Pearce got the job after writing the script for Runaways, a Marvel project based on the cult comic by Lost writer Brian K. Vaughan about children of super villains who try to use their evil powers for heroic purposes. Pearce is the British writer who created the irreverent UK TV series No Heroics, about a bar hangout for superheroes, who aren’t allowed to use their superpowers while drinking. That project had Nick & Nora’s Infinite Playlist director Pete Sollett attached and seemed on a fast track. It is still at Marvel, but the company is concentrating on its other big superhero franchises first.
Personally, I would like to see them further exploring the infamous “Demon in a Bottle” arc, where Tony’s drinking gets out of control. They already touched on that in Iron Man 2, and the source material is comic gold.
What do you think? What would you like to see appear in Iron Man 3?
