The Dark Knight Rises has just been filling up with actors over the last couple of weeks. Today reports surfaced that Daniel Sunjata, best known for his role on Rescue Me, will be joining the cast as a “courageous special forces operative.”
In more Handsome Young Buck news, the same reports were updated Monday to include Diego Klattenhoff (the chap in the middle up there), who will be signing on to play “a rookie cop who is looking to make a difference,” or so says Variety. You might recognize Klattenhoff from roles in Mean Girls and Lucky Number Slevin. Note that Variety also says he has only been offered his role, so it’s possible this isn’t real news yet (But really, who would turn down a role in this flick?).
Also being eyed for an unknown supporting role is Burn Gorman (chap on the far right). He’s been around in things like Layer Cake and Penelope, but we nerds best know him as Owen Harper from seasons 1 and 2 of Torchwood.
These three rising stars, all capable talents, join a cast that already includes Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gary Oldman as Commissioner James Gordon, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Michael Caine as Alfred, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Juno Temple as a likely sidekick for Catwoman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as (probably) Alberto Falcone and Josh Pence and Marion Cotillard in uncomfirmed roles likely to be a young Ra’s al Ghul and Talia al Ghul, respectively.
The flick is shooting Pittsburgh this summer for a 2012 release. No plot details yet, but things are really taking shape now. Soon we’ll be watching the rooftops for the Shadow of the Bat (Was that too corny? Shut up, no it wasn’t.).
