Gulliver’s Travels

Jack Black (Kung Fu Panda, School of Rock) is larger than life in this epic comedy-adventure based on the classic tale. When a shipwreck lands a lowly mailroom clerk named Gulliver (Black) on the fantastical island of Lilliput, he transforms into a giant — in size and ego. Gulliver’s tall tales and heroic deeds win the hearts of the tiny Lilliputians, but when he loses it all and puts his newfound friends in peril, Gulliver must find a way to undo the damage. Through it all, Gulliver may just learn that it’s how big you are on the inside that counts.

Starring: Jack Black, Emily Blunt, Jason Segel, Billy Connolly, Catherine Tate, Chris O’Dowd, and Amanda Peet
Directed by Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens, Shark Tales)

Extras include: Gag Reel; Deleted Scenes; I Don’t Know…with Lemuel Gulliver; Little and Large; Jack Black Thinks Big; Down Time; Gulliver’s Foosball Challenge; War Song Dance; Fox Movie Channel Presents: In Character Jack Black; Fox Movie Channel Presents: In Character Jason Segel; Life After Film School Rob Letterman of Gulliver’s Travels; World Premiere; Theatrical Trailer.

Does the movie do justice to original story source? No. Does the movie have a good reason to be in 3D? No. Does the humor entertain more for the  younger kids than the older audience? Yes. With that said, as long as you know who this movie is for, it ends up being an okay movie. Knowing that though, you can pretty much PASS on the title.

Available: Blu-Ray 3D/Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy Combo; Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy Combo; 2 Disk DVD Set

Old is New: This is a list of old titles of note that are being released on Blu-Ray for the first time.

With the new Mortal Kombat game coming out today, what better day to release the two Mortal Kombat films on Blu-Ray. While the second movie may be ignored, the first film is still pretty good to this day.

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation

TV Show DVD:

Captain Planet and the Planeteers: Season One

Only by working as a team will their individual powers Earth, Fire, Wind, Water and Heart combine to form the iconic hero known as Captain Planet. Together they will right the wrongs of the Eco-Villains and prevent future crimes against the planet because an injustice against the Earth is an injustice against us all.

Extras include: Your Powers Combined: The Story Of Captain Planet; Original concept art.

Yes folks, you have the power to obtain the first 26 episodes of Captain Planet for a low price over at Amazon. If you have love for the series then pick this release up as it’ll let Shout! Factory know that you want other season sets to be released.

American Dad! Volume 6

From the demented comic minds of Mike Barker, Matt Weitzman and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane comes another hilarious volume of star-spangled insanity — including Stan battling the Antichrist in the outrageous “Rapture’s Delight” episode! Bumbling CIA operative Stan Smith will stop at nothing to defend everything that makes this country great — from strip bars to that most sacred of American institutions, The Goonies! Whether he’s trading brains with a racehorse or rescuing Roger from bloodthirsty revolutionaries, Stan will do whatever it takes to secure the blessings of liberty in this over-the-top salute to the greatest nation on Earth.

Extras include: Uncensored audio/scenes on select episodes; Deleted Scenes, The Making of Rapture’s Delight; Commentary on select episodes.

If you’re still one of those poor saps who hates on American Dad! because it’s nothing compared to Family Guy then I feel sorry for you as the show has proved why it is in it’s sixth season. This sixth volume contains all the episode from season 5 (yes, they decided to put one whole season this time) and it contains the awesome Rapture’s Delight episode that is definitely worth checking out.

One Piece Season Three Fifth Voyage

When their descent from the sky doesn’t go as planned, the Straw Hats find themselves trapped in the Marine stronghold of Navarone. This impenetrable island is surrounded by scraggy stone walls and governed by a military mastermind known as Commander Jonathan. Pirates imprisoned within Navarone’s walls seldom live to see the other side, but not even the great Commander Jonathan has ever faced foes as formidable as Luffy and his crew. Eager to escape the island and get back in the water, the Straw Hats hatch a plan to spring Zoro from the clink, reclaim their confiscated gold, and rendezvous at the Going Merry for a life-or-death, do-or-die, daring dash into the freedom of the deep blue sea! The sailing certainly won’t be smooth, and it’ll take all hands on deck to survive this scrape!

Extras include: Episode 196 commentary; Textless songs; Trailers.

Alright, the episodes contained in this set may be about filler episodes and One Piece is known to have some crappy filler but the Escape! The Naval Fortress arc is not that bad. As always, it’s always good to support official release of anime titles as the next set will contain The Foxy Pirates and the Davy Back fight episodes.

Available: 2 Disk DVD Set

*NerdBastards’ DVD Tuesday feature only list certain releases that may have some interest for our audience and thus why it doesn’t list all releases as we are sure that you wouldn’t care for those.*
