Sam Raimi (Spiderman 1,2, and 3) is ready to offer his take on something a little less superheroish but none the less magnificent! His next project will be Oz: The Great and Powerful which is already set to feature James Franco as the man who becomes Oz and Mila Kunis as the witch Theadora. Now it’s being reported that Rachel Weisz (The Mummy, The Fountain) is in the talks to join the cast as Evanora who is Theadora’s older evil sister!
The plot of the film revolves around,
James Franco portrays a fast-talking snake oil salesman and illusionist who flees a traveling circus and winds up whisked away in a hot air balloon by a tornado to Oz where he must face off against real magic and the sisters battling for control of the land. Theodora starts out as a good witch, alongside her beautiful sister Glinda, but after her sexual advances are jilted by Franco’s salesman, she’s convinced by Evanora to switch sides and help her older sister rule Oz.
If Weisz is cast in the role she will be responsible for causing Mila’s character to turn evil which is a pretty wicked and bitchy part to take on! This is not typically the kind of role that Weisz usually plays so this could either makes things really interesting or really shitty. What do you guys think??
