I never really cared for the Soul Calibur games. I always considered it to be the poor mans Mortal Kombat. Back in the times of Arcades (memba Arcades?) Soul Calibur was that fighting game everyone played when MK and Tekken were in use. At least that’s how I remember it anyway. In all it’s incarnations, the characters were cool (Nightmare was my favorite. Actually he’s everyone’s favorite) and the fighting itself was worthy of about 5 minutes of your attention. If anything, I think the reason its had such staying power is because of it’s cast of female characters flaunting off their ginormous bouncy titties (Oh Ivy Valentine how we love fapping to you). Eh, well endowed emo girls sell games. It’s as simple as that.
Are my comments really that far off from the truth, or am I just an ignorant douche (which I often am)? Anyway, the popular game franchise is coming out with it’s 5th addition. Recently, Namco Bandai unveiled the much anticipated next entry in the series, Soulcalibur V, with a massive Twitter rampage of information by game director Daishi Odashima.
Set 17 years after Soulcalibur IV, Soulcalibur V stars a new protagonist, Patroklos, the son of Sophitia and Rothion, and though we should expect a roster shift because of the time that has passed in-game, Odashima has confirmed that Ziegfried and Nightmare will be making an appearance. In addition, the character creation from Soulcaliber IV will also be making a return.
Soulcaliber V is due out sometime in 2012 for both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3, and it’s expected we’ll find out more during next month’s E3.
