And so it begins!
Principal photography began today for The Dark Knight Rises, the highly anticipated third (and last) movie in the Christopher Nolan-directed Batman franchise.
Leading the cast is once again Christian Bale playing Bruce Wayne/Batman, but in this film he is joined by Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman), Tom Hardy as Bane, Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate (a Wayne Enterprises employee), and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Gotham police officer John Blake. Rounding out the cast are the returning characters of Alfred (played by Michael Caine), Commissioner Gordon (played by Gary Oldman) and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox.
oOing against the grain, Nolan has opted out of using 3D for the film (HOORAY!), but opted for more IMAX footage, due to the succeeds of it on The Dark Knight.
The locations used for The Dark Knight Rises span three continents and include Pittsburgh, New York and Los Angeles, as well as India, England and Scotland.
The closely guarded storyline has so far maintained elusive, but as soon as we get word, you’ll be the first to know! The film is slated to be released on July 20, 2012, and I cannot wait!
