Not that any self respecting nerd cares, but just so y’all know, Paramount Pictures has moved up Michael Bay‘s Transformers: Dark of the Moon two days from Friday, July 1st to Wednesday, June 29th.

Splosions Wednesday night instead of Friday night is no Bay buffoonery. Seemingly pointless to us, those two extra days will give the threequel (I really hate that word) a little more time to position itself as one of the summer highest grossing films. It’s biggest competition is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, which opens July 15th, those extra 48 hours might give it the push it needs to stand a top the box office mountain. That’s the logic behind it anyway.

Plus Bay is a creature of habit (which explains why all his movies are a the same), he’s done this before.  Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was moved from Friday June 26th 2009 to Wednesday June 24th 2009 and the release date of Transformers was moved from July 4th 2007, to one day earlier – July 3rd 2007. Suffice to say, this was expected.

Shift in release notwithstanding, will you, as a fan that has been burnt twice before, go back for thirds? Is there a sense of cautious optimism?

Opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters, the action adventure stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey, Alan Tudyk, John Turturro and Leonard Nimoy.
