Since we are all obviously still alive and the “Raptors” weren’t released for the rapture, I hope you didn’t spend as much money as whoever gave Tron: Legacy director, Joseph Kosinski, 100 million dollars to produce Oblivion. This is a miracle seeing as after talks with Disney only lead the film at the chopping block and shopping around for an investor. Thankfully, Universal Studios committed to financing and distributing this 100 million dollar film based on the sci-fi epic graphic novel. After receiving the finances and being backed by Universal Studios, Tom Cruise has confirmed that he will be involved in the film.
Deadline news announced that Tom Cruise is set to play the main character, “a soldier who’s stuck alone on the planet, repairing the drones that patrol and destroy a savage alien life form. He encounters a beautiful woman who crashes in a craft, and their experience together forces him to question his world view.” Oblivion is set in a post apocalyptic Earth where most of humanity now lives in the clouds and the surface of the Earth has been ravaged by hostile aliens.
Filming for Oblivion is set for October. To check out official plot details and some sneak peek illustration of the graphics click here.
