Let’s get this over with and agree that Cumberbatch is a funny last name. OK, now that the giggles are out of the way it’s time for the Hobbit news. With so many actors already cast in Peter Jackson‘s ‘Hobbit’ it’s not like one more will kill it.
During the BAFTA Awards fellow cast member Martin Freeman accidentally let slip that fellow Sherlock Holmes star, Benedict Cumberbatch, had landed a role in The Hobbit. That’s fantastic news as Benedict already has praise for his acting ability, not to mention that he already has film experience with 2 previous films to his name (War Horse and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy). Too bad nobody was supposed to know any of this outside cast and crew as Principal photography has been underway since March. In response to his slip of the tongue Freeman said:
“I knew I was a big mouth, I didn’t know how much of a big mouth, and I’ve ruined everything. And now I might not have a job to go back to!”
Hopefully Martin will not be re-cast to the unemployment line as he was excited to reunite with his co-star for a Hollywood role. As to just who will Cumberbatch (snicker) play? People have speculated he”ll take the role of Bard the Bowman. Bard will play an important role in the 2 part film so expect to see Benedict getting plenty of scene time and action sequences, as for Martin he may have screwed the Smaug on this one.
Maybe Jackson will go light on Freeman and only have him sleep in a 4-star hotel, the pillows in 5-stars are to0 puffy anyway.
