Donald Sutherland has been confirmed as President Snow in the upcoming The Hunger Games movie. This nerdbastard thinks it’s a stroke of genius to cast Sutherland in this role. Snow is a political monster, all smiles to the public, but insiders know the cruel, vindictive, and calculating evil that is President Snow. Sutherland has always had a knack for playing characters with twisted insides and he’ll get a chance to scare the crap out of fans every where with this role.
In The Hunger Games, 24 kids (Two from each district) are randomly selected from twelve different Districts to battle to the death, on TV, for the whole country to see. The government hosts this bloodbath annually to remind the districts that rebellion is futile.
Lionsgate broke the news of Sutherland’s casting on LionsgateNews Twitter feed.
Sutherland’s acceptance will provide him work for the next few years as the role of President Snow grows as the story progresses through the three Hunger game books. In Catching Fire and Mocking Jay, the two sequels to The Hunger Games, Snow is a major character with lots of screen time.
Gary Ross (Director) has done a great job casting the adults of this film. Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Stanley Tucci, and Lenny Kravitz all nailed the characters from the books. I can’t wait to see them all on the big screen.
Here’s a little taste of what might be. It’s a fan made trailer that captures the feeling of the books pretty well.
