Here is our first look at season two of the hit AMC show, The Walking Dead. The network has just a photo taken by Gene Page and Greg Nicotero from the set of the critically acclaimed show, which is currently in production in the greater Atlanta area.
Executive Producer/Writer/Director Frank Darabont says, “At this moment, I’m standing on a stretch of post-apocalypse interstate in Georgia, littered with abandoned cars and blessing my good luck to be reunited with our amazing cast, and our fantastic directors and crew. Across the board, there are none better. It’s great to be shooting again. I think we’ve embarked on a great season.”
2 things. 1. Those eyes. Gah! That is not something you want to wake up to after a hang over (which I have). Creepy as fuck! 2. I’m super thrilled for the second season. However, I’m one of those folks that was not happy with the liberties taken with the comic in season 1. New material will undoubtedly continue into season 2. Yes, Robert Kirkman (writer of the comic) and director Frank Darabont don’t want to retread the comic. They want loyal readers to have new material to look forward to. I really do not agree. Especially given the stories in the comics have proven to be more interesting and entertaining than the random crap they’ve added to the show.
The second season of The Walking Dead premieres in October, and will run thirteen episodes. You can see a brief Atlanta news report with a bit of on-set (or nearly on-set) footage here. You can also head on over to www.amctv.com for more information and photos from the upcoming season .
